Hydraulically driven loading machine for removing glass sheets from crates or conventional storage racks. The automatic system for separating the sheets of glass also works in crates closed on all four sides. A spindle drive is used to adjust the suction head to suit the glass thickness. Pick-up, repositioning and transporting away occur in a fully automatic cycle.
