Automatic Butyl Extruder for Non-Flexible Spacers

LBH-B25ARS

The butyl extruder (LBH-B25ARS) unites advanced dosing technology with well-tried principles and decades of LiSEC experience in the automatic application of butyl on non-flexible spacer frames.

How is the Butyl Extruder constructed and which frame sizes are supported?

The Butyl Extruder (LBH-B25ARS) is composed of three areas: inlet, coating and outlet. It can process spacer frames up to a size of max. 2,500 x 2,500 mm.

How does the Butyl Extruder for non-flexible spacers work?

After measuring the spacer frame at the inlet, the uniform, two-sided butyl coating is applied by a combination of horizontal and rotational movements. Due to CNC control, butyl is applied in a dynamic, very precise dosage. Each section of a spacer frame is coated with an application precision of ± 5 % of the defined amount of butyl, without interrupting the application process.

How does the butyl application work in detail?

The amount of butyl can be defined individually for straight stretches and corner areas of the frame. It is possible to adapt the motion dynamic to the frame size and material, to ensure even for unstable frame types an exact application of the butyl, especially in the corners. The continuous, automatic adjustment of the nozzle height supports exact positioning of the butyl on the side surfaces of the spacer. In addition, the unique nozzle geometry increases the glass contact area and thereby the effectiveness of the insulating glass' primary seal.

Processing of frames with Georgian bars?

Georgian bar frames can be processed with the help of special hold-down rollers and adaptive grippers. It is also possible to activate an extra turn before the coating process, to adjust the frame orientation at the outlet.

Highlights & Benefits

Precise and uninterrupted application of butyl

The precise, volumetric dosing supports butyl application with an accuracy of 1.5 to 4.5 g/m, without interrupting the application process. It is possible to define individual material quantities for straight stretches and corner areas. In addition, the unique nozzle geometry increases the glass contact area and thereby the effectiveness of the insulating glass' primary seal.

Automatic height adjustment

The butyl extruder (LBH-B25ARS) standard includes continuous, automatic adjustment of the nozzle height, which precisely defines the position of the butyl. The butyl can be applied in a way to avoid air becoming trapped between butyl and edge bond, or between the other butyl in the visible area of the insulating glass element. With an adjustment range of 2-8 mm, the automatically adjustable nozzle height covers all common spacers on the market.

Adaptive control

The LBH-B25ARS dosage includes a highly dynamic rotary valve with volumetric flow measurement and adaptive control as well as controlled electrical heating of the material up to the nozzle tip. As a result, it is easy to teach handling of new butyl types, and to compensate for material fluctuations between batches.

No downtime to refill material and easy accessibility

The 200-liter barrel pump and the integrated material buffer ensure operation without material-related shutdowns. A special feature of this system is the very easy access for cleaning and service purposes.
