Processing Machines – Top Priority at LiSEC
LiSEC, the world market leader in terms of plants and software for the processing of flat glass achieves a long-term success with plants for the processing. According to schedule, the Austrian plant manufacturer shall deliver the 500th processing machine until the end of the year.
The first plants
The success story began at the end of 1998 when the first processing plant was delivered to England. This plant was already a high-performance seaming plant, which seamed a window sheet approximately every eleven seconds and which was in operation for many years. The reason to buy this plant, apart from the requirement that many of the panes had to be tempered, was the statutory safety requirement in the UK. Alexander Kronsteiner, head of product management at LiSEC: „Insulating glasses had to be protected against cut injuries. It was more cost-effective to accomplish this by means of the seaming process than by means of the adhesive masking tapes all around the insulating glass as it was done in the past.“ Soon after, LiSEC generally entered the processing market: As the first provider in the market with a vertical water jet technology. It was then followed by vertical processing machines with peripheral technology – furnished with patents, which were extremely relevant in terms of quality.
Until then, all processing machines were constructed horizontally – LiSEC was the unmistakable trendsetter of vertical processing – other suppliers are now following LiSEC’s example. LiSEC remains true to this policy and will continue to develop it systematically.
Processing of Edges
For many years, LiSEC has attached great importance to the processing of edges because the LiSEC engineers have recognized the significance of this sector already at a very early stage. The percentage of tempered glass where at least one seam is required as well as the percentage of processed glasses in the interior and façade architecture is increasing continuously. This is why more and more milled and polished edges are required, most commonly with increasing formats.
Own Team
Behind the processing machines at LiSEC is an own team consisting of design engineers, which takes care of the machine engineering and automation and which develops them further. The processing division also has its own manufacturing area, has an own product management and own training experts in the LiSEC service and training center. The essential product groups will soon be mapped in business units at LiSEC – as will be the division processing machines.
Great Demand
Processing machines by LiSEC are used all over the world – in particular in Eastern and Western Europe, Australia, parts of Asia and the USA. Also the major industry partners are customers of LiSEC. They appreciate, above all, LiSEC’s capability to construct the most stable and most durable processing plants (LiSEC almost exclusively uses stainless steel for the construction) and to deliver a reliable and economical quality even in case of challenging requirements (jumbo sizes and beyond).
„For months, we have been registering an increased demand for processing plants“, recounts Othmar Sailer, CEO of the LiSEC Group. „We will augment production capacities as well as offer more training courses. If the demand will remain this strong, we will sell our 500th plant towards the end of the year. For me, this is the evidence that we are on the right track!“
