Thomas Binder – Production Assembler
As a mechanical engineering technician, I am responsible for assembling and commissioning various machines in the insulating glass production sector. Spatial awareness and precision are particularly important in my day-to-day work. Every step has to be right from the start, because if the machine doesn’t work in the end, troubleshooting is difficult. It’s also important that the team works well together, as several colleagues are involved in the assembly process.
My career at LiSEC:
I started as an apprentice at LiSEC in 2007. At that time, there was no training workshop, so we were put straight into production and moved between different departments depending on the workload. After completing my apprenticeship and my military service, I was able to gain even more practical experience at LiSEC as a mechanical engineer. I was responsible for assembling the LiSEC logistics solution ASM (automatic sorting magazine). I then moved to the insulating glass production department, where I have now been working for around 10 years. I am responsible for three different machines, from assembly through to commissioning. These include the AKL-A (edge decoating system), VSA-A (system for applying flexible spacer tapes) and TPA-A (system for processing thermoplastic spacers).
What I like about my job:
That my job is very varied. I work across many different areas of responsibility and with different machines, commission systems and am constantly adapting to new challenges. I particularly appreciate the strong team spirit – we stick together, support one another and thus create a pleasant and reliable working environment.
What motivates me:
seeing clearly at the end of the working day what I have achieved and made progress on. Tangible results give me energy and confirm that my work is making a difference.
What I particularly want to highlight about LiSEC:
I really appreciate the family-friendly working hours with flexitime, as they allow for a good work-life balance. I also view the ongoing changes and improvements within the company very positively, because they are often immediately noticeable and day-to-day work is constantly being optimised.
My personal highlight at LiSEC:
A particular sense of achievement for me was when I assembled my first machine independently and commissioned it on my own. Seeing the finished end product and knowing that everything was working perfectly was a great feeling.
