Flexible Spacer Application
The FSA-A applies flexible spacer belts precisely and fully automatically to glass sheets for the production of insulating glass. Thanks to precise sheet measurement, a rotating application head and a stationary butyl unit, it can process both rectangular spacers without butyl and T-spacers with butyl. The result is a high level of process reliability, clean corners and low-maintenance operation.
The system consists of a glass transport unit with separate drive zones, a back wall with support rollers and a suction cup axis for precise positioning. Sheet measurement takes place directly at the automatic applicator via sensors in the feed section The rotating application head is mounted on a vertical guide rail and controlled via servo axes. In the standard version, the material is fed via a decoiler, caterpillar drives and climate-controlled material boxes for two rolls of material.
The FSA-A is fitted with a stationary butyl system for T-spacers. Two application nozzles apply the butyl bead to both sides of the profile. One nozzle is fixed, while the other can be adjusted to the respective profile width.
The outer sheet of the insulating glass unit is transported through the system without any height measurement taking place. The next application sheet moves into the suction position and is secured by vacuum suction cups. During the suction process, an ultrasonic sensor measures the glass thickness. The length and height of the sheet are then determined using sensors and measuring fingers.
Once the measurements have been taken, the glass sheet is transported into the application position. The spacer is applied along the edge of the sheet with the rotating application head – with or without butyl, depending on the design. The corner pieces are punched out by the punching unit and suctioned off directly.
The FSA-A is suitable for insulating glass manufacturers who are keen to process flexible spacers automatically, with reproducible results and a high degree of process reliability. The system is particularly well suited for production environments with different spacer widths and T-spacer materials. It satisfies the highest standards in terms of precise corner formation, clean processing and low-maintenance operation.
Precise corner formation
Two blades, which can be adjusted at angles to each other, punch out the corner pieces with precision. This results in clean, consistent corners and ensures that the spacer is guided precisely along the edge of the sheet.
Stationary butyl system
With the stationary butyl system, it is possible to apply butyl cord to both sides of T-spacer materials. The easily accessible and swivelling design makes maintenance, cleaning and servicing easier.
Clean disposal of material residues
Protective films and die-cutting scraps are suctioned off directly at the point of origin and disposed of in a controlled manner. This reduces the need for manual intervention, increases system availability and supports a clean production process in the manufacture of insulating glass.
